Top 10 Must-Try Restaurants in Berlin

Hi foodlovers!

I’ve been living in Berlin for almost four years now, and I still haven’t stopped exploring. It feels like a new restaurant or brunch spot pops up every other week, making it almost impossible to keep track of them all-let alone try them (my wallet would definitely not agree).

What I can share with you in this blog post, though, are my absolute favorite places to eat in Berlin. Over the years, I’ve built up a list of spots I keep coming back to, whether it’s for the delicious food, the great atmosphere, fair prices, or ideally all of the above.

No surprise here: most of my recommendations are around where I live. I rarely leave Prenzlauer Berg… unless it’s for really good food 😉

Top 10: Song Nguu „Wasserbüffel“ (Prenzlauer Berg)

One of my Asian go-to spots in Prenzlauer Berg is Song Nguu. If you’re craving authentic Vietnamese food, this place never disappoints. The menu is quite extensive, with everything from fresh summer rolls and pho to flavorful curries and noodle dishes—also with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The portions are generous and the prices very fair – with my favorite dish Udon Noodles with Tofu and Tempeh for around 10€.

Top 9: Alin Gaza Kitchen (Prenzlauer Berg)

Located right next to Mauerpark, Alin Gaza Kitchen is the perfect spot to grab a quick lunch—especially on a Sunday before or after a stroll through the park (but honestly, it works any day of the week).

Their falafel sandwiches are not only delicious but also super affordable costing only 6,50€. The place itself is quite small, but there are a few spots to sit inside and some outdoor seating for sunny days. If you have a bit more time, I’d definitely recommend going for one of the plates instead of just a sandwich so you can also try their homemade hummus or baba ganoush.

Top 8: ROLLS Asian Street Food (Prenzlauer Berg)

If you’re craving an abundant, affordable, and most importantly delicious Bánh mì near Prenzlauer Allee, this is the place to go. You can order completely digitally via a screen, and the food is ready in no time—either to take away or to enjoy at one of the few indoor or outdoor seats.

The Bánh mì comes in a variety of options: vegetarian with crispy tofu or Chinese aubergine, or with chicken, pulled pork, or beef. So there’s definitely something for everyone – go ahead and check this out, you won’t regret I promise 🙂

Top 7: Eiscafé Scutari (Prenzlauer Berg)

With spring finally arriving in Berlin and temperatures slowly getting warmer (just kidding- April is still ahead of us with all its unpredictable weather), it’s officially time for ice cream.

And no! I’m not giving credit to the usual overhyped ice cream spots in Prenzlauer Berg. Instead, this place feels a bit more special. Eiscafé Scutari is a traditional Italian gelateria that truly focuses on fresh ingredients and quality. You can taste that everything is homemade, just like original Italian ice cream should be. And with 2,20€ per scoop it is also cheaper than Hokey Pokey, Duo and Co. 🙂

If you’re in the mood for authentic, handcrafted gelato, this is definitely a spot worth checking out.

Top 6: Knödelwirtschaft Nord (..surprise Prenzlauer Berg)

Yes, another Prenzlauer Berg gem made it to the list -but don’t worry, there’s also a “Knödelwirtschaft Süd” in Neukölln if you’re on the other side of the city.

If you’re craving hearty, savory German food, Knödelwirtschaft is the place to be. The menu changes regularly, so every visit is a little surprise. You never know which Knödel creations you’ll discover next. You can assemble your plate based on your appetite: 2 Knödel for a lighter meal, up to 4 for when you’re really hungry. They have vegetarian options and always one type of vegan Knödel on the menu.

Each plate comes with a delicious mixed salad with cucumber and beetroot, and their mushroom sauce is an absolute must-try. On top of that, the cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for a relaxed dinner with comfort food in good company.

Top 5: Zerö Kebab Plant-based Döner (Mitte)

This place is a must-try if you love Döner and want to try a vegan version! It’s affordable, and the vegan meat tastes surprisingly delicious. The bread is perfectly crunchy and comes with fresh salad and grilled vegetables. You can even add fries on the side for an extra treat. One extra point is the always friendly and helpful staff!

The only downside? You’ll probably smell like fried kebab after eating there. So either embrace it… or take your Döner outside to enjoy, especially on a warm summer day 🙂

Top 4: The Rabbit Café (Mitte)

A dear friend of mine (Hi if you’re reading this! :)) introduced me to this place, and I immediately fell in love. The cozy atmosphere, whether inside the café or outside on the charming street, makes it a perfect spot for brunch or an afternoon coffee.

I’ve been here several times, even on weekends, and it’s surprisingly never crowded, which is quite rare for this area around Mauerpark in Berlin. Most brunch spots in Prenzlauer Berg/Mitte area require reservations, but here you can just walk in.

The prices are very reasonable, and my favorites are the avocado toast and the carrot cake. They also have great smoothies and lunch options. I can easily imagine this being a nice spot to co-work from during the week as well. Give it a try if you’re looking for a cozy Brunch spot!

Top 3: Omoni (Prenzlauer Berg)

Sushi-lovers, this one’s for you! Omoni in Prenzlauer Berg is the perfect spot if you’re craving fresh, high-quality sushi in a cozy, relaxed setting. The menu has a great variety of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, with options for both classic favorites and creative twists. You can really taste the quality in every bite, and the best part is that it comes at a very reasonable price.

What I love most about Omoni is the attention to detail, each piece is beautifully presented, and the flavors are consistently on point. The space itself is small but charming, with a friendly atmosphere that makes you want to come back. Whether you’re coming for a casual dinner or a sushi date, this place never disappoints.

Top 2: El Pepe Tapas Bar (Wedding)

The second place goes to my favorite Spanish restaurant in Berlin: El Pepe Tapas Bar. If you’re in the mood for Spanish flavors and a lively atmosphere, this Tapas Bar in Wedding is a must-visit. The menu is full of classic tapas favorites, from patatas bravas to jamón ibérico, all made with fresh ingredients and packed with flavor.

The bar itself is cozy and casual, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends. Portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Add a glass of sangria or a cold beer, and you’ve got the perfect spot for an authentic Spanish evening in Berlin.

Top 1: Cap Vin (Prenzlauer Berg & Mitte)

No surprises here! if you’ve read my other blog post about my favorite pizzerias in Berlin, you probably already expected this one. If you’re craving a true Neapolitan pizza, I can wholeheartedly recommend Cap Vin.

Whether you visit the spot in Prenzlauer Berg or the one in Mitte, the pizza never disappoints. I’ve been to both locations many times, and the quality is always consistent. Not gonna lie, the service could be a bit better, but for a delicious margherita (or any pizza on their menu), I’m happy to close one eye 😉

Here’s a recap of my favorites. Happy eating!
